About Me

Hello!

My name is Dimas Yusuf and I created this website ten years ago when I was applying to residency programs. At that time, I was a medical student at UBC, months away from graduation, and wanting to put my best foot forward in the residency application process. I heard rumors that program directors look up their candidates online and so I created this website to impress the program directors.

It has been ten years, and indeed, time changes everything. I am no longer looking for a job. Instead I am constantly trying to get myself even a short vacation. Back then I had no idea who I will become. Ultimately, fate has led me to become a medical oncologist—or cancer doctor in plain English. After completing my medical oncology fellowship in Canada, I practiced in the United States at two spectacular Maine hospitals, an experience for which I am eternally grateful.

After a year of working in the US, I moved back to Canada and I currently practice in Delta, British Columbia, as a private oncologist. I run an unusual practice, probably unique in the province, that focuses on providing patients with an honest, unbiased, and evidence-based opinion regarding their specific situation, and helping patients get access to the best cancer diagnostics and treatments possible, especially those that are not available through provincial cancer programs. The hard reality is that cancer drugs are incredibly expensive, and there is a growing list of cancer drugs that provincial cancer programs are simply not able to offer.

Since I am an independent medical oncologist with a private practice in the community, I am not constrained by any potential organizational cultural or political issues in my practice. I believe this has allowed me to be more agile, flexible, and truthful in my practice. I feel blessed that I am in this position, and to have the opportunity to meet many patients from nearly every corner of British Columbia, across Canada and around the world in their cancer journey. If you are interested in my practice or want to learn more on how you can become my patient, please visit the Pacific Specialty Care website.
